Really enjoyed my visit, the street was cool to look at and at the time was decorated up for Christmas so was lovely. Unfortunately, we didn't get up to the gallery this time but will definitely try to go back again and check it out.
Lovely Museum to visit. The Lark Hill exhibition is just amazing and definitely worth a visit.
Downside to the visit was a parking fine, I had paid and parked between two other parked cars, so becareful as I had paid but it said undesignated parking space?! How are you supposed to know within a row of cars. Put a dampener on the visit!!
This place was a great find for an afternoon out with something for all ages. The gallery has some historical art works with originals by Salford painters (including LS Lowry and Harold Riley). There is also a more contemporary art gallery with interesting audiovisual elements.
Throughout there are fun activities for kids; books, colouring and discovery boxes in the art gallery for example. There is an old Victorian doll's house which our little ones enjoyed looking at.
The Victorian Street is very unique and atmospheric. There were some dressing-up clothes which our kids loved and made the Victorian experience all the more authentic!
There is a well-priced cafe and a little shop which included some old original books and good gift options. Artworks and crafts by local artists are also available to buy.
Parking is available outside (limited on busier days), it was £2.50 for 3hrs and you can use the paybyphone app or website if you don't have change for the machine.
The main room of the gallery has some great paintings & sculptures whilst the Lark Hill Place takes you back to the streets of London of the 18th/19th century or the Shambles of York. The Halloween deco added some spooky touch to it 🎃👻
Had a lovely time walking down an old salford street. Lots to see lovely art gallery. Nice cafe there also a shop
It's one if the BEST museums in Manchester, especially Lark Hill Place in the ground floor which is a fantastic showing of people's life in 19th century. You can walk in old Victorian Street re-constructed from original shops, and feel how people lived in ancient UK.
You can find beautiful galleries in upper floor and finally have a coffee in its great cafe.
Decided to pop in for lunch whilst visiting my son at Salford Uni- what a wonderful place! Fantastic cafe, lovely staff and a brilliant little museum! Who knew that such a magical Victorian street was hidden away in this amazing building. Well worth a visit!
So this is actually a very small museum but with the park behind it we actually had a really good time! The Victorian street is absolutely beautiful the kids really enjoyed it (my only niggle is its too dark you can't really see the carriages) there were a few Victorian machines which the kids liked (fortune teller £1 coin, grip test 10p coin, burning house 2x 20ps) the little sweet shop had pre packaged sweets you just pay a donation into the jar. The other galleries were also interesting just not to my kids 😅 its a beautiful building!
There is a cafe which is reasonably priced and a gift shop, parking was £2.50 for 3 hours. Walk round the back and you will find peel park which has a really good play ground. We will definitely visit again
